Classroom 101 Seminar Length: 1 to 2 days - depending on content and class size Reccommended Class Size: 1-25 This seminar is designed with two main goals. First, to help teachers create a classroom handbook they can begin to use on their very first day in their classroom. Secondly, to teach new teachers how to use this handbook to create a positive learning environment that will help both student and teacher to reach their goals. Classroom 101 will address everything from talkative students to late homework and dozens of scenarios in between that most new teachers will not think about until the situation arises. This seminar will help these new teachers be consistent and fair from the start which will help them build credibility with parents, students, colleagues and administrators. Colleges and Universities prepare teachers to teach their content and they do a great job at that. They, however, are not preparing teachers for how to effectively and consistently get to the content part of teaching each and every day. We can help. In preparing your individualized Classroom 101 seminar, I will familiarize myself with your schools rules, procedures and guidelines to help your teachers immediately fit into your school community. I will work with you to determine the right topics to cover as well as the content within those topics. After we talk, I will provide you with a cost for your personal seminar. Content recommendations will include: Classroom Handbook Development: Each teacher will leave the seminar with a handbook ready to be distributed to students and parents. This handbook will address the needs of each individual teacher's classroom and subject matter. Classroom Discipline: The most common discipline problems and suggestions to conquer them; the importance of consistency and the pitfalls of failing to be consistent; discussion to lead the teacher to be prepared to handle discipline situations on day one. Classroom Organization: Classroom set-ups that work; successful record keeping; setting up your substitute for success. Personal Success: Building strong relationships with parents; preparing for parent communcation; preparing for your first parent/teacher conference; building strong relationships with your administrators. Follow up Classroom Visits: Follow up Classroom visits by our presenter can be arranged to get and keep each teacher on the right track. Mid Year Review: A Mid Year Follow up Seminar can be scheduled to reconnect with new teachers and help them move to the next level or re-enforce forgotten techniques. |
